2 Bring snacks – This can be anything from granola bars to chips to fresh fruit. Snacks can be great when it comes to improving employee health and wellness. It’s a way to show appreciation for their hard work. In addition, this allows you to bring something into the office without spending too much money.
3 Give out gift cards – Give them gift cards for stores they like to shop at such as Amazon, Starbucks, etc. Make sure to pick ones that appeal to them so they’ll enjoy using them.
4 Provide education opportunities – Make sure to provide educational opportunities (such as continuing training courses), certificates, and books related to your business to keep everyone up to date on new trends and developments. These things not only help retain employees in the long run but also instill confidence within your team.
5 Pay them to take their birthday off – This is one of my favorite ideas! People want to work with people who care about them and their families. And by showing your appreciation for your employees, you make sure they feel appreciated as well. Many employees may take their birthday off with vacation days anyway, so letting them spend time with their family while not stressing about finances is a great reward for anyone.
6 Paying bonuses – Bonuses should be given based on performance and attendance. However, it’s important to note that your goal isn’t just to pay off their bills but rather to develop the skills necessary to lead a productive life outside the workplace. And, bonus checks should be sent out periodically until the end of the year (or another timeframe).
7 Allow flexibility with schedules – Try offering flexible scheduling whenever possible. When people don’t have to worry about whether or not they can afford child care, they’re more likely to spend their weekends with their kids or go out and get involved in extra activities. Plus, having flexible schedules means less stress for managers and leaders.
8 Recognize accomplishments – Employees deserve recognition for their achievements. Whether these achievements are the completion of tasks or personal goals, acknowledge them in a way that lets them know that you respect and admire them.
9 Offer sick days and vacation days – It may seem obvious, but it’s important not to overlook the benefits that come with paid leave and vacation days. Workers need to rest after a hard day of work; otherwise, they become burnt out. Providing this time will create a healthier workforce throughout a company when everyone feels appreciated.
10 Go above and beyond – Sometimes, taking things a step further goes a long way. For example, if an employee needs additional training, reach out to her supervisor so he can make sure she gets it. If someone has been working overtime, buy him lunch or get his wife flowers.
There are so many inexpensive, but effective ways to show your employees you appreciate them. Making your workers feel valued at work is one of the best strategies for increasing their motivation as well as keeping them loyal. You must remember though: A lot of companies try to use perks and incentives to attract new employees instead of retaining existing ones and those who do not see things through tend to lose their top talents. So always consider how you are approaching these methods before implementing them.
